And The New Hampshire Primary Goes To…

Nope, I don’t know. Let’s hope I know today, and not several days from now like in Iowa. The dynamics of the primary season have always intrigued me, as a candidate gains momentum if people see that others have chosen that candidate. If someone does well today, people in other states will take notice and perhaps change their own allegiances. In reality, it is peer pressure from social proof, and the entire history of our nation can be influenced by how a handful of people in one of our smallest states vote today. They are like the ultimate focus group, and hold enormous amounts of power to sway public opinion. Yup – elections are all about marketing: employing influences, effective advertising, garnering “reviews”, building a community on social media, loads of networking – all coupled with the finesse of perfect timing to survive the odd, staggered way we conduct primaries. If the primaries were all held on the same day, the candidates would have a very different approach, and we might end up with a totally different winner. Campaigns must be run for the task at hand – just like in business. For me, I’ll be watching, and perhaps learning some marketing tips as I go! hashtag#election hashtag#newhampshire hashtag#publicopinion hashtag#iowa
