100 Years Old!

Over the weekend we celebrated my mother-in-law’s 100th birthday. Can you imagine . . . 100 years old! We were fortunate that her 3 children, 6 grandchildren, and 3 great-grandchildren were all there, with 2 of the grandchildren Facetiming in from London to join the party. How different is the world from 100 years ago? How many presidents and wars have passed? (18 and 7, so I’m told). In 100 years we have gone from slow cars to fast rockets flying to the moon, and she even sees her grandchildren on a screen riding in the back of an Uber thousands of miles away wishing her a happy birthday – I wonder what she really thought she was seeing on that screen? The world is changing exponentially faster and faster – Mom’s first 50 years were more alike in world-progress terms than her last 50 – in fact these last 20 have probably progressed more than the first 80. Whew – no wonder she looked a bit tired! Happy Birthday, Mom – you are a gift to our family and an inspiration to us all! (pictured with my son and nephew)
